FAQ for Your First Visit

Q: Do I need to bring my insurance card to every visit?

A: Yes, your insurance card is needed to keep your account up to date and accurate.

 

Q: Will I need a referral if the doctor sends my child to see a specialist?

A: Each insurance policy has different requirements. Please contact your insurance company for more information. If your insurance plan requires a referral, you may call our office to request a referral or click on patient forms located on this page to fill out our online form.

 

Q: What if I am going to be late for my appointment?

A: We request that you plan to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment, so that your child is in the room and ready for the provider for the scheduled appointment time. Please contact our office if you are going to be late or cannot keep your appointment. Our office staff will assist you with rescheduling if necessary.

 

Q: Will there be a copay for every visit?

A: Depending on your insurance, a copayment may be required. You may contact your insurance company to check if your plan requires that we collect a copayment. To avoid an administration fee, please be prepared to pay your copay at the time of the visit.

 

Q: What should I do if my child is admitted to the hospital?

A: You should contact your insurance company within 24 hours. We use the hospitalists to see our patients, so we would like the patients to be directed to call us as well. 

 

Q: Why is it important that one of the physicians from Suburban Pediatrics to be listed as my primary care physician (PCP)?

A: If your insurance requires a PCP and one of our providers is not listed, this may result in the charges being denied by your insurance carrier and you being responsible for the charges for all dates of service.

 

Q: When will my medication refill request be processed?

A: Medication refills are managed Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Refills requested after 3:00pm will be handled on the next business day. Prescriptions for controlled substances require a 72-hour notification, and must be picked up at our office with identification.
